THE WATKATO TROUBLE.-MR BRYCE INTERVIEWS TE KOOTI.
THE PRISONERS AT THE POLICE COURT. Alexaxdka, This day. The Native Minister had an interview with Te Ivooti at Alexandra last night, the latter having come down to the township. The nature of the interview has not transpired. Mr Bryee leaves for Kopua to-day to see Wahanui. The visit is said to be only of a friendly character. To Kooti goes back to Te Kuiti. Wahanui's brother, Kahua, has come down to Auckland in connection with the prosecution of Mahuki and his followers. Auckland, This day. At the Police Court to-day Mahuki and twenty-two of his followers were charged with assault on Mr Hursthouse and Mr Nowshani, and also with robbery. Mr Earl, instructed by Mr Shcclnm, defended, and the Crown Prosecutor, Mr Williamson, prosecuted. Mr Hursthouse had not concluded giving his evidence at the 1 o'clock adjournment.
