THE CALCUTTA EXHIBITION.— A NEW ZEALAND AGENT APPOINTED.
AucKLXxn, This day
Mr A. Oppeuheimer, of Auckland, has been appointed general agent for New Zealand for the international exhibition at Calcutta in December next. He has also received a letter from Mr Joubert, of Sydney, stating that the Australian colonies have voted money to aid exhibitors and defray the expense of official representatives. Mr Joubert adds that he has written to the New Zealand Government, urging similar action, as from his recent visit to India he is satisfied a goodly amount of trade would arise between this colony and India if the matter were properly taken up.
