Nonnanby took the lead soon after the start, and was never caught, winning easily by two lengths. For the Handicap Race Durie's Breeze and Scud took first places, but such dark running was shown by Scud, that the stewards disqualified the owner of the horse and the jockey Belcher, the rider, during the pleasure of the dub.
