Five thousand Socialists who had to-day collected at tho Place d'lnvalides were dispersed by the police. Louise Michel, who was present, was placed under arrest.
March 11
Nineteen Socialists who were arrested yesterday in the Place d'lnvalides have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
It is feared that the Socialist disturbance will be renewed, and measures are being taken by the authorities to prevent their recurrence.
Tho statement that Louise Michel was arrested yesterday is now proved to be incorrect, A warrant has, however, been issued for her arrest.
March 12. An attempt was made to-day by Socialists :o renew the rioting in this city. The dis-
play of force by a large body of military and police, hoAvever, overawed them, and
they dispersed. Fifteen arrests were made of prominent rioters.
