The folloAving agricultural returns for the past year arc published ;— Ashburton County.—Wheat, 99,5*>S acres, estimated yield 2,187,035 bushels; oats, 33,011 acres, estimated j-ield 917,371 busbc-ls ; barlCA', 51 .0 acres, estimated yield 102,382' bushels: potatoes, 2921----acres, estimated yield 12191, tons. Sclavaii County.—Wheat, acres, estimated yield 1,575,371 bushels ; oats, 30,002.[ acres, estimated yield 823,-181 bushels; -1303/,- acres, estimated yield 10,985 bushels; potatoes, 2108 acres, estimated yield 10,050J tons. Waimate County.—Total number of holdings, 310, an increase of only 13 over the number in February, 1882 ; of land broken iq>, but not under crop, the return is 11,717 acres, being 71-28 acres less than last year ; the area under Avheat is returned at 2-1,989 acres, and the estimated produce 710,701 bushels, an increase of 2081 acres iv area and of 121,011 bushels in produce; the area under oats is 20,007 acres, and the estimated produce 751,812 bushels, an increase of 2111 acres in area and of 185,528 bushels in produce ; the area under barley is 1351 acres, and the produce 43,150 bushels, an increase of 55S acres in area and of 13,750 bushels iv estimated produce; the area under grass on land broken up, including 953 acres of hay, is 107,827 acres, an increase of 0740 acres over last year; there are 287 acres under pota.toes, a decrease of 203 acres, the estimated produce being 1570 tons, a decrease of 140 tons only on last year's estimate ; the total number of acres under crop, including sown grasses, is given as an increase cf 1-1,175 acres on last year's total.
