TAUPO.
TES day
During the last week several shocks of earthquake have been felt here, and one of unusual severity occurred about 12 o'clock on Tuesday. 'The tremor of the ground was felt for about six seconds, aad the shock was so violent that it half emptied a glass of water. The oscillation of the earthquake wave was from the north-west to the southeast. It is not known if Tongariro is any way active, as the volcano has been cloudcapped for the last week.
