Thlvku, This day, A number of the men employed in the grain stores struck for an increase of pay yesterday, but the employers refused to meet their demands. The men state that they are at present paid one shilling , per hour all round, and that at Lyttelton and Port Chalmers men in similar positions are paid Is 3d and Is Gd respectively. The strikers demand Is 3d per hour during the day and Is Gd overtime. If they work on board ship they want 12s per day, and 2s Gd per hour overtime.
