[by telegraph.] AVanoanui, Thursday. The autumn meeting of the above club was held to-day. There Avas splendid weather, and the course was in good order, but heavy going. The attendance was large. WANGANUI DERBY, Of 100 soys. Mr W. T. Owen's b m Fame, Bst 51b (Butler) .. .. ' 1 Mr C. Redwood's b m Pareora, Sst 51b (AVattie) 2 Mr AY. Hately's br g Laudseer, Sst 51b (Kraft) 3 —Sweet Home, the Drmd, Maid of Eccleston, Hipporina, The Gem, Laurel, Mystery, Rally, and Denbigh also ran. Last Chance, True Blue, and The Orphan were scratched. A splendid race, Fame, the favorite, coming through well at the finish, and winning by about a length. The others Averc all well up. Time, 2 nuns. 47 1 sees. HURDLE RACE, Of 75 soys. Mr J. SteA'ens' b h Diomedes, 6 years, lOst Sib (Campbell) 1 Mr A. J. Keith's br g Reform, 5 years, lOst Sib (A. Keith) 2 Mr J. H. Pollock's br g New Year, aged, lOst Sib (Clifford) 3 —Dhudeen and Parnell also ran. Christmas Avas scratched. NeAv Year was the favorite, but Avas out of the race throughout, pulling up lame in the off fetlock. Time, 4 mins. 52 sec. and two-fifths. HACK HURDLE RACE. Mr A. J. Keith's g m Lady Bab .. 1 Mr Death's eh m Gang AAva .. .. 2 Mr J. Crocker's g g Kelpie .. ~ 3 WANGANUI cur. A handicap of 500 soa-s. ; the second horse to receive 50 soys from the stakes, and the third horse to save his stake ; 2\ miles. Mr Horsfall's br h King Quail, aged, Sst (Butler) .. .. .. .. 1 Mr A. J. Keith's b g Buzzard, 5 yrs, 6st 91b (Higgie) 2 Mr T. W. Owen's b m Fame, 3 yrs, 6st 7lb (M'Cormick) .. .. 3 —Mr P. Martin's Leonato (Kearse), Mr Fraser's Armourer (Williams), Mr E. N. Morse's Sincerity (J. Fiirrell),Mr Powdrell's Hailstorm (AVattie), and Mr J. O. Hayward's Orphan (Hayward) also ran. St. Clair, Dim, and Constellation Avere scratched. A splendid race. Buzzard led throughout till the last quarter of a mile, and appeared to haA-e all his own way, when King Quail came up and caught tho leader, Avinning easily, Fame third. Time, 4min. 12 4-sth sees. SAPLING STAKES. Mr John Stevens' AVainureka ~ .. 1 Mr P. Tancred's Consul 2 Mr S. Powell's Leonessa .. .. .. 3 —Four others ran. There was a grand race for tho first place, and it Avas very nearly a dead heat, AVainureka winning merely on the post. FLYING HANDICAP. Mr W. H. Outturn's Dan .. .. 1 Mr S. PoAvell's Hinemoa 2 Mr Keith's Constellation.. .. ..3 —Minerva and Tantivity also ran. Dan led nearly the Avhole way and Avon by ten lengths as he liked. Time, 2mins. osecs. HACK RACE. Mr Dunn's Send .. .. ~ .. 1 —Seven horses started. A race was run between Lady Bab and Gang Awa. The former mare ivas well ridden by George Hope, and won by half a length, hard held. Time, 2mins. 23 4-sth sees. This day. The weather was splendid for the second day's sport, and 1500 people were on the course. MAIDEN PLATE, Of 60 soa's., U miles. Leonata, Sst 21b " .. .. 1 Pareora, 7st 131b .. .. 2 Laudseer, 7st 131b .. ~3 Leonata led the last half of the distance winning by about a length, but was desperately pressed for the last quarter of a mile by Pareora and Laudseer, who came in second ahnost a dead heat. Time, 2mius, 47j. HANDICAP HUriDLES, Of 75 soys, 2|- miles. Reform, list ..' .. ..1 Lady Bab, lOst 21bs .. ..2 Dhudeen, lOst 3 Diomedes (12st), Parnell (lOst 71bs), and NeAv Year (lOst 51bs), Averc scratched. Reform led till Avithin three-quarters of a mile from home, Avhen Banshee came to the front, but fell at the second last hurdle, Reform again taking the lead, and winning by two lengths. Time 4mins. 54-.J sees. WANGANUI STAKES HANDICAP, Of 250 soys., 2 miles. King Quail, Osfc 41b .. .. I Buzzard, 7st 01b ~ ;. 3 Dan, Sst-71b '.'. ~ ~3 —Swept' 'Home (6st 71b), AVilberforce (7stj, Annuity f6s.t 101b), Constellation (Ost 81b), Fame (Sst lib), Leonata (7st), Okato (Gst), Pareora (7st 91b), Painter (Gst 121b), Hailstorm (Sst 12st) and Egmont (6st) Avere all scratched. Blue Gown led for the first round, and was passed by Buzzard, avlio in his turn led to Avithin a quarter of a milo from the post, when King Quail passed and won by live lengths. Time, 3mins. 43SCCS.
