DESTRUCTION OF NATIVE GAME.
[To the Editor, of the Daily Telegraph.] Srn, —Sunday morning , , when taking my usual walk, I was surprised to hear the report of no. less than three guns on different parts of the Whare-o-inavaenui block, and, being anxious to find out what the firing was about, I strolled up to the spot and saw a "sportsman " (?) with a couple of wild ducks hanging to his belt. I would like to know if the rangers who were appointed hist year ever took a walk as far as the Tutaekuii ? If not I would advise them to do so at once, as this same thing occurs every year, and instead of the season commencing on the Ist of May, as gazetted, it generally'starts about the middle of February, therefore a true sportsman waiting for the proper time has no chance of procuring a decent bag, as the birds are too wild, and cannot bo got at.
