Horticultural Show* HAWKE'S BAY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. THE Second Show under the auspices of the above Society will be held in the Grounds of H. S. Tiffin, Esq., (again kindly placed at tho disposal of the Committee), on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY, the 7th and Sth of MARCH. The Committee have spared no trouble in their endeavor to make the Second Show _an improvement on the first, and aro offering two prizes each in no less than 144 classes. C. L. MARGOLIOUTH, Hon. Harding, Esq. —First prize, I set of Garden Tools, for best collection of Flowers : second prize, a lot of Plants to be given when able to be shifted in the autumn. Handicap Hurdle Race —Of 150 soys.; second horse to receive 25 soys. from the stake; distance about two and a half miles; nomination, 3 soys., on Tuesday, 19th December; weights will be declared on AVednesday, 7th February ; acceptance, with 4 soys., on Tuesday, 20th February; final payment of 5 soys. on night of general entry ; winner of Handicap Hurdle race of 50 soys. or upwards after declaration of weights to carry 71bs. extra, Tradesman's Handicap — Of 200 soys. ; second horse to receive 25 soys. from the stake; distance, one and a half miles ; nomination, 2 soys. on night of general entry ; weights will be declared on night of first day's races; acceptance with 5 soys., by 11 p.m. on night of first day's races. Autumn Handicap—Of 100 soys. ; distance, three-quarters of a mile ; for 2 and 3 year-olds ; nomination 1 soy., on night of general entry ; weights will be declared on night of first day's races ; acceptance, with 3 soys., by 11 p.m. ou night of first day's races. Consolation Handicap—Of 30 soys. ; distance, one mile; entrance, 2 soys. ; for all beaten horses (hacks excepted). RULES AND REGULATIONS. No entry will bo received for any race 'except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising- shall be •decided by the Stewards, or whom they ■may appoint, and their decision upon all points shall be final. General entries, TUESDAY, 6th MARCH; qualification fee 2_ soys., for non-members, payable at same time. All nominations, entries, and acceptances, accompanied by the necessary amount in _sh, must bo addressed to the Secretary, a_d left at the Criterion Hotel, Napier, not later than 8 p.m. on the several specified dates. Tho rules and weights of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club will be strictly adhered to. Five per cent, will be deducted from tho gross amount of all stakes.
