"TSTHEKEAS, in accordance with the t t provisions of "The Harbors Act, 1878," on the second Monday in the month of February, 1883, the under-named three gentlemen, members of the Napier Harbor Board, will cease to hold office, but will be eligible for re-election: — Edward Lyndon, Esq., John Smith, Esq., And—John Bee Gleadow, Esq.:— And, whereas, on the said second Monday in February, there will be an Election, by the Ratepayers of the Borough of Napier, of three Members of the Napier Harbor Board to fill the vacancy so caused. Now, therefore, I, the undersigned, do hereby give notice that I have appointed the Office of the Town Clerk, Napier, as the place, and WEDNESDAY, the SEVENTH day of February, 1883, as the day, for the Nomination of Candidates, who must be nominated by means of Nomination papers, in the prescribed form, addressed to me and delivered at the said Office of the Town Clerk, before NOON of the said SEVENTH day of February. Each such Nomination paper must state the full names of the Candidate and must be signed by two Electors of the Borough of Napier, and by the Candidate himself in token of his assent to such Nomination. No entry will be received for any race except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points shall be final. General entries, TUESDAY, Gtii MARCH; qualification fee 2 soys., for non-members, paj r able at same time. All nominations, entries, and acceptances, accompanied by the necessary amount in cash, must be addressed to the Secretary, and left at the Criterion Hotel, Napier, not later than 8 p.m. on the several specified, dates. The rules and weights of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club will be strictly adhered to. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross amount of all stakes.
