Patoka Survey District. 11. .. 5 .. 203 10.. 131 12 G Description.—The Sections in Block XIV. and Sections 30 to 35, Block XIII., I'oluii District, are chiefly forest with a few clearings. The timber consists of Rimii, Matai, and a little White Pine. The formation of the ground is undulating and well watered, the .soil inclined to be light. Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12 of Block 11., Patoka, 15, and 10 of Block XIII., and 8 of Block 15, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern land, with a little bush on Sections 11, 12, 15, and 8. Sections 1 unci 2, Block VI., Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone formation, a sniiill quantity of bush on each. Access is given by roads which, have been partly formed, about 2i miles through the bush buhiLs , cleared of timber. The Hawke's Bay County Council has in course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea road, a distance of six miles. Section 2 has a small frontage to the Taupo-road, and is bounded on one side by the Moliaka river. Sections 3 and 4 have frontage to the Taupo-road. Mauugaharuru District: Fern hills and spurs on the western slopes of the Maungaharuru rang'c, the soil is light, about one half of Section 2 is undulating country covered with natural grasses. Section 3is good pastoral land. Section 4 lias frontage to Taupo-road. A few clunrps of bush are scattered about on Section 1. Waitara District: Open fern country, hilly. A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed a distance of 12 miles through the block, starting from the Tauporoad about 35 miles from Napier. Crown Lands Office, Napier, Jan. 9, ISS3.
