Patoka Survey District. 11. .. 5 .. 203 1 0 .. 131 12 _0 Description.—Tlie Sections in Block XIV. and Sections 30 to 35, Block XIII., Pohui District, are chiefly forest Avith a few c!c.-n"iii_s. Tlie timber consists oi Rimu, Alatai, and a little White Pino. The formation of tlie ground is undulating and Avell Avatered, the soil inclined to be light. Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12 of Block 11., Patoka. 15, and 10 of Block XIII., and 8 of Block 15, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern land, Avith a little bush on Sections 11, 12, 15, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block A*L, Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone formation, a small quantity of bush on each. Access is given by roads Avhich have been partly formed, about 2_ miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The Hawke's Bay County Council lias in course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea road, a distance of six miles. There is also another dray road via. Section. 2 has a small frontage to theTaupo-road, and is bounded on one side by the Mohaka river. Sections 3 and 4 have frontage to tho Taupo-road. Alaungaharuru District: Fern bills and spurs on tlie western slopes of tho Alaungaharuru range, the soil is light, about ono half of Section 2 is undulating country covered Avith natural grasses. Section 3is good pastoral land. Section 4 has frontage to Taupo-road. A few clunrps of bush are scattered about on Section 1. Waitara District: Open fern country, hilly. A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed a distance of 12 miles through the block, starting from the Tauporoad about 35 miles from Napier. Crown Lands Office, Napier, Jan. 9, 18S3.
