MEAIBERS unwilling to serve under the new Regulations are requested to apply for their discharge on or before THIS 'DAY (Thursday). Having delivered up all arms and accoutrements, or other property, and paid any dues in which they may be indebted to the Company, such discharge will at once be granted. Alembers willing to serve under tho new Regulations are requested to signify the same to the officer commanding the company on or before THIS DAY (Thursday), by filling up aud forwarding the proper form. AVith a view of clearly placing the position of the company before members, and others who may be disposed to join it, the following information is placed before them. Should the company on the 31st instant not number forty-three rank and file, including recruits all duly sworn in under tho new Regulations, it will be disbanded, thus loosing (even should it be re-organised the Sjvy after) its seniority .-iinonir the corps of New Zealand. AVith a view to avoiding this, and if possible saving the corp's precedence, the officers individually and collectively place their commissions in the hands of the company as newly constituted, and either or all of them will at once resign if requested by the vote of three-fourths of those members and proposing members who may by the 25th instant have signified their willingness to re-enrol or enrol, such request to be simply conveyed by word of mouth through the senior non-commissioned officer to the officer commanding the company on or before the 31st instant. The following leading rules are extracted from the new Regulations for the guidance of members and others : — 0. A Volunteer shall be entitled to his discharge at any time after a year's service on application to his Commanding Officer, provided ho shall have given not less than three calendar months' notice of his intention to make the application ; such notice to expire in January or July. 9. The standard height for A'bluntcers shall be, for Artillery corps, 5 feet 0 inches ; and for all other corps, 5 feet 5 inches ; but exceptions to the standard may be allowed, under special circumstances, by the Officer in Command of the District. 00. All enrolled members of Volunteer corps must be natural-born or naturalised subjects of Her Majesty. 09. Any Arolunteer who wishes to be transferred to another corps may, except when on actual service, at any time after the expiration of a year's service, by giving one week's previous notice, be transferred upon his delivering up to the Commanding Officer of the corps which ho is about to leave, in good order, fair wear and tear only excepted, the anus and accoutrements or other property of the Government issued to him, and shall not be accepted in another corps until he produces a certificate showing that he has paid all money due by him under these Regulations or the rides of tlie corps ; and provided further that the capitation allowance for such A'olunteer shall be paid to the corps in which he may be serving at the termination of the A'olunteer year. 70. A A'olunteer will not be allowed to resign until after a year's service except on account of ill-health or departure from the colony. Should a A r oluuteer, after enrolment," determine to reside in another part of the colony, he may be transferred to a corps of the same arm, shoidd one exist in the district to which he may proceed, or may obtain his discharge as "provided in paragraph 71. 71. If a A 7 olunteer wishes to quit the Force,- he may, on showing sufficient cause, be permitted"to do so either without payment or on payment of such sum as the Minister, on the recommendation of the Officer Commanding the Corps, shall fix. All sums so paid shall be credited to the funds of the corps the discharged man served in. 72. No A'olunteer who is permitted to quit the force will receive his discharge until he hits given up in good order, fair wear and tear only excepted, all articles of Government property issued to him. 73. The Commanding Officer of a corps is to give to any Volunteer who voluntarily quits it, and who has complied with the conditions contained in paragraph 72, a certificate. This certificate is to be presented to the Officer in Command of the District, who will furnish such Arolunteer, if requested to do so, with a discharge certificate. 75. AVhen a A r oluntcer, temporarily absent from his district, attends the drills of another corps, the Officer Commanding that corps, or officer of permanent .staff, will furnish him with a certificate of the drills he has attended. 94. Recruits on enrolment in Garrison or Head-Quarter corps, who have not previously received a military training, will be formed into squads irrespective of the corps for which they enrolled, and will have to attend at least" thirty hours' drill (exclusive of target and judging-distance practice) before being permitted to join the ranks. 9"). AVhen reported proficient in their drills they will be passed by an officer of the permanent staff, and will then be entitled to receive a certificate of efficiency, which will cany with it capitation for the Volunteer year in which they enrolled, provided that the period under instruction has not exceeded six mnuths. 90. A free issue of a serge suit will be made to these recnuts. 97. Men wishing to join a corps who have served in any regular force or undergone a military training will be permitted to enrol at any time during the Volunteer year, provided they pass in drill to the satisfaction of the Officer Commanding the District, or officer of the permanent staff ; but these men will not be entitled to capitation grant for the year in which they were enrolled, unless they have attended the required number of Government parades. 112. The Officer Commanding the District may order such other parades as he may consider necessary, but not more than three parades in any one month will be allowed to count for capitation. 119. No parade, at which less than twotliirds of the strength of a corps is present, is at any time to be credited to a corps as an inspection or Government parade towards capitation or efficiency. 135. A capitation allowance of £2 10s per annum will be granted to " efficient " members of Garrison and Head-Quarter corps. A member to be deemed an "efficient" Volunteer must have, during the year, («) Attended twelve Government parades or chills, foui 1 of which must have
