MEANEE DISTRICT SCHOOL PICNIC.

The annual picnic and distribution of prizes to the pupils attending the Meanee district school took place at Petane on Friday last, Mr G. Rymer, with his usual liberality, conveying the children there in his tAvo large coaches. After regaling themselves with the good things provided, and indulging in a variety of games, the prizes (Avhich were awarded according to the Inspector's examination) were distributed, and a start made for home, where all arrived seemingly aa-cII pleased Avith the day's outing. The folio\\-ing is the prize list :— Standard I.—First prize, George Fairbrother ; second, Stuart Brandon. Standard 11. — First prize,' Catherine M'Donell; second, Mary Trask; third, Lucy Landsdown ; fourth, Thomas Atkins. Standard lll.—First prize, James Lopdell ; second, Jane Trask. Standard TV.—First prize, Jano Peacock. There Avere also a great number of special prizes given for writing and good attendance.
