It is reported that a band of Circassians made an attempt upon the life of the Sultan to-day. The guard at the Palace, however, prevented the entrance of the would-be assassins, and frustrated the attempt. It is stated that the Circassians fought desperately, and that several lives were lost. The reports have caused considerable excitement here, bxit they require confirmation.
