Patoka Survey District. 11. ~ 5 .. 203 10.. 131 12 G Description.—The Sections in Block XIV and Sections 30 to 35. Block XIII.,Pohui District, are chiefly forest with a few cleariiurs. The timber consists of Riniu, Alat'ai, and a little AYhite Pine. The formation of the ground is undulating and avcll Avatered, the soil inclined to be light, Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12 of Block 11., Patoka, 15, and 10 of Block XIII., and 8 of Block 15, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern hind, with a little bush on Sections 11, 12, ]5, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block VI., Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone formation, a small quantity of bush on each. Access is ■riven by roads which ha\'o been partly formed, about 2 \ miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The HaAvke's Bay County Council has in course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea road, a distance of six miles. Alaungaharuru District: Fern hills and spurs on the A\'cstem slopes of the Alaungaharuru range, the soil is light, about one half of Section 2 is undulating country covered Avith natural grasses. Section 3is A good pastoral land. Section 4 has frontage to Taupo-road. A foAV clumps of bush are scattered about on Section 1. AVaitara District: Open fern country, hilly. _ >' A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed a distance of 12 miles through the block, starting from the Taupo- vi road about 35 miles from Napier.
