THE ALLEGED MURDER CASE.
Auckland, Tlus day. The case of alleged murder against Priestley and Airs Hamilton Avas commenced at the Police Court to-day. Alessrs Earlc and Cooper defended, and Air Williamson, the CroAvn Prosecutor, prosecuted. Strong comments were made by the prisoner's counsel in reference to the newspapers commenting on the case. Over forty Avitnesscs are to be examined. The only evidence of importance that has as yet transpired is that of Dr. Goldsboro', avlio made the post mortem examination. He deposed that the wound on Hamilton's head corresponded exact!}' Avith the axe Airs Hamilton Avas seen carrying on the morning after Hamilton's death ; he also deposed that the Avound could not have been caused by a fall ou the bedstead, as asserted In' Airs Hamilton.
