Air Ormstcd has just returned from Sydney, Avhere he had an interview Avith the Ngav South AVales Government, but he has met Avith the difficulty mentioned. He will, hoAVCA'er, return to Ncav South AVales shortly, when he hopes, and is led to expect, that the Government there will favorably consider the question of a continuation of the service, but from advices from Sydney there is cvey probability of the AVhite Star line entering the field as competitors for the next contract. At a meeting of the Board of Governors of the College and Grammar School yesterday, the Rev. Thomas Thistle, "ALA., Oxoii., was appointed to the post of classical English master, and Alfred H. High ton, ALA., Cantab, of Adelaide, to the post of master of natural science and mathematics.
