SYDNEY.
December 28. Latest telegrams to hand from Clarence river heads report that the steamer New England has broken up. It is believed that twenty-five persons have lost their lives, but the number of passengers who were on board is not known yet with certainty. The vessel was insured for £9000, the greater part of which is held by English offices. December 29. It has now been ascertained that the loss by the New England disaster will Dot exceed eleven souls. No more bodies have been washed ashore.
