A eerioua accident has occurred in a mine in Westphalia, whereby twenty lives were lost. A rope attached to a cage in which the miners were being brought up to the surface broke, and the men were precipitad to the bottom of the shaft.

It has transpired that measures will shortly be adopted for increasing the garrisons on the eastern frontiers of the empire. Additional banacks are to be erected, and railway exteusion will bo rapidly carried on forthwith.
