A dramatic entertainment in aid of the Hastings district school prize fund will be given in the Town Hall, Hastings, this evening. Owners of horses are reminded that nominations for the Welter, Napier, Railway Stakes, and Hurdle Race Handicaps, to be run at the Jockey Club's meeting in March next, close with the secretary at the Criterion Hotel at 8 o'clock to-night. The Rifle Volunteers fire for Major Routledge's cup at the Tutaekuri range at 5.30 a.m. to-morrow. Mr Lyndon sells Canterbury hams and bacon, new potatoes, mid a consignment of the new season's tea from China, by auction to-morrow at noon. Mr Ryan's auction sale of fancy goods commences at hie mart to-morrow at 11 a.m. The first meeting of tbe creditors of Henry Selig, jeweller, an arranging debtor, takes place at the Court House, Napier, to-morrow at 2 p.m. To-morrow is the last day for sending in returns of property under the Property Assessment Act to the Property Tax Commissioner at Wellington. Rymer's coach will leave Newton's cornerat 7 o'clock to-morrow evening to convey persons desirous of attending the entertainment in aid of the prize fund of the Taradale district school. The privileges in connection with the Friendly Societies sports on the recreation ground on New Year's Day will be sold by auction by Mr Monteith at the Criterion Hotel on Thursday. Messrs Banner and Liddle publish particulars of the sale of Mr Souths furniture, which will take place at that gentleman's residence, Fitzroy road, on -Thursday at 11 a.m. The furniture will be on view from 9 a.m. to time of sale. Messrs Ruddock and Fryer want the public to inspect their shilling and halfcrown tables. The firm also have bar iron, and disinfectant powder on hand. Mr W. Kathbone cautions persons buying sheep from Hori Tawhai, of Takapau. The finder of a fine gold chain, lost in. Carlyle-slreet on Saturday, will be rewarded on returning same to Mrs Ansell. Mr Wall, watchmaker a.nd jeweller, is offering tbe whole of his stock at a discount of 5s in the £1 for cash only. Messrs G-arrett Bros, have bargains in. boots and shoes for Christmas. Mr F. W. Collins, jeweller, has new goods; in watches, clocks, and jewellery, suitable for Christmas presents. The Christmas holiday arrangements on the Napier section of the New Zealand railway will be found published elsewhere. Dressed poultry for Christmas and New Year can be obtained at Mr Gillett's, Emer-son-street. Mr G-illett will provide luncheon at No. 2 booth, Hastings racecourse, on Boxing Day. Woods' iron and quinine wine as a remedy in cases of nervous debility, loss of appetite, &c, stands unequalled. A number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted " column.
