It is officially announced that the Right Hon. H. C. E. Childers bas assumed tbe position of Chancellor of the Exchequer, vice the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone, migned. Several large failures are reported in the tin plate trade, the liabilities in some caees being extensive.
William Westgate, who confessed to participation in the Phoenix Park murders of last May, has arrived at Plymouth from Jamaica. He is apparently in an imbecile state of mind.
The three men who were sentenced to death for the murder of the Joyce family at Maamtrasna, Connemara, in August last, were executed to-day.
