At the inquest upon the body of the newly-born child which was found in front.of the harbor on Tuesday, the medical evidence showed that the child had lived for a shoi-t time after birth, and, ttjat it* dsath wa? caused by the nan,-
tying of the umbilical cord. The police believe they have discovered the person who gave birth to the child and left it to perish, and an adjournment of tbe inquest for a week was made in order to allow of her being produced.
