PARIS.
December 8. In tbe Chamber of Deputies to-day M. Duclere, the Premier, stated, with reference to tbe proposed establishment of a French protectorate over Tonquin, that a 6um of nine million francs would be required to carry out the project, and announced that he would shortly ask the Chamber to authorise the appropriation of that sum to defray the expenses in connection with the expedition.
