The nautical opera " Billee Taylor" will be played at the Theatre to-night for the first time in Napier by the Tambour-Major Opera Company. A special train leaves Hastings for the opera at 7 p.m. to-morrow, returning after the performance. The horticultural show will be open for the last time to-night from 7 to 10.30 o'clock. At 9 o'clock an auction sale of the prize exhibits, materials of erection, &c, will be commenced, the whole offered without reserve. The nomination of candidates for the election of two members to represent the Diocese of Waiapu in the General Synod of the Church of England will be received by the returning officer, Mr Fielder, up to 4 p.m. to-morrow. Tenders, addressed to the Visiting Justices, for the supply of rations, ironmongery, clothing, and other necessaries to the prison at Napier, for the period from January 1 to December 31, 1883, must-be sent in by noon to-morrow. Mrs Hampson will conduct an evangelistic mission in the Wesleyan Church from Monday next to the following Sunday, commencing each evening at 7.30, and on Sunday at 8 o'clock. Noonday prayer meetings will take place every day from Monday to Saturday. The programme of the Friendly Societies sports, to be held on New Year's Day, is published. A bay gelding impounded at Napier will be sold on Saturday at noon unless redeemed. Messrs Monteith and Co., instructed by Mr S. B. Firth, will sell at Glendinning's yards, near the Napier station, on Friday, December Bth, 60,000 feet 6awn timber. Creditors in the estate of C. H. Mitchell who have not proved their claims are requested to do so before December 4, otherwise they will not participate in the dividend now payable at Mr Lascelles , office. Messrs F. Higgins and Co.. open a branch of their butchering business in Hastingsstreet, Napier, to-morrow, and solicit public support. Mr F. Algar has sums of money from £100 up to £500 to lend on approved security. The New Zealand Clothing Factory, which has branches in this provincial district at Napier, Waipawa, and Wairoa, announces itself as the cheapest and largest clothing emporium in the colony, and the local agent, Mr Ziegel, gives special notice of the favorable terms under which it transacts business with its patrons. Messrs Combs and Co. commence a clearing sale extraordinary on Saturday, announcing their determination to clear the whole of their stock at " slaughtering" prices. Messrs Ely the and Co. have shilling, eighteen penny, and half-crown tables containing glass and china ware, toilet bottles, ornaments, &c. Mr White, basket and perambulator maker, Emerson-street, has received another lot of lawn tennis bats, and also a largo quantity of toys suitablo for the present season, which he is selling at the lowest possible prices. Mrs Fernandez, Coote road, can provide two gentlemen with board and residence.
The steam launch Leisure Hour can be engaged at any time for fishing or excursion parties on application to Mr M'Knight, Weilesley road, near Napier railway station.
The steamer Kiwi leaves for Wellington at 5 p.m. to-morrow.
Mr Denholm has been appointed agent at the Spit for Mr Woods, pharmaceutical chemist.
