Steps are being taken by Mr John Taylor, dyer of Colombo-street, to establish a glove factory in Christchurcb. Tbe body of James Orilley, who was drowned while bathing at Sumner on Thursday, was recovered on Saturday by a search party. AUCKLAND. November 27. Tho down Waikato train hid a narrow escape from a serious accident at Newmarket on Saturday. The points had been unaltered, though the signal " all clear " was given, and the train ran on a siding, coming into collision with and damaging some trucks. A lad at Kamo has been accidentally killed while cleaning a loaded gun. The Colonial Sugar Company have succeeded in obtaining from the Harbor Board a lease for fifty years of that portion of the foreshore on the North Sbore opposite their property. The site is three acres in extent. It is expected that the building of refining works will be forthwith commenced.
