Tenders for a four per cent. £1,000,000 loan for South Australia were opened today. The total amount offered was found to be £574,000, the tenders, averaging £99 12s 6d. Tenders will now be invited at par for the unallotted balance of £426,000. The Right Hon. H. C. E. Cbilders, Secretary of State for War, has gone to the Continent on a trip for the benefit of his health, which has become seiiously impaired through overwork. H. R. H. the Duke of Edinburgh is at present suffering from a severe attack of bronchitis. The debate in the House of Commons on Mr Gladstone's proposed new rules in reference to the business of the House has been rapidly proceeded with at recent sittings. During the past week seven more of the Premier's resolutions have been passed, and all the rules affecting procedure have now been dealt with. Three final resolutions affecting standing committees alone remain to be discussed. November 25. At to-day's wool sale 10,000 bales were offered. Medium and inferior wool generally in request at reduced prices. Good qualities are firm.
