Lord Dufferin is urging the Egyptian Government to expedite the trial of Arabi and the other rebel officers.
It has transpired that, contrary to the understanding which was arrived at last month, the commission of inquiry appointed to conduct the prosecution of Arabi, now declines to allow the latter's counsel the right of cross-examining witnesses who gave evidence for tbe prosecution.
