The Fancy Fair at the Theatre -will be open for positively the last time to-night. An auction sale will take place at 8 o'clock, when the goods on hand will be disposed of. The whole of the fittings of the Fair will be sold by auction to-morrow at noon. A general meeting of the Napier Land and Building Society, No. 5, will take place in the Council Chamber tt 8 o'clock to-night, to receive report and balance-sheet and elect officers. Acceptances for the handicaps to be competed for at the Friendly Societies fete at Hastings on November 9 must be forwarded to the secretary, Mr C. T. Williams, tomorrow. The creditors of Edward Higgins, butcher, meet at the Court House, Napier, at 2 p.m. to-morrow for the purpose of assenting to the deed of arrangement. Messrs Monteith and Co. sell 70 head of cattle and a number of horses by auction at Beecroft's yards, Hastings, to-morrow at 1 p.m. The share list of the Equitable Insurance Association of New Zealand closes tomorrow. Mr W. G. Motley is the local broker. An adjourned special meeting of the Borough Council will be held in the Council Chamber to-morrow evening, when a proposed addition to Bye-law No 22, as to external walls of buildings within No. 2 district, will be considered. The members of the Shield of Health Lodge, 1.0. G.T., meet on Thursday evening for the nomination and election of officers. Entries for the Maiden Plate and acceptances for the handicaps of tho Petane races close with the secretary, Mr J. Steven, on Friday evening. The Railway Department invites tenders for the supply of coal and coke for the New Zealand railways. The deed of arrangement between C. H. Mitchell and his creditors is, by an order of the Supreme Court, declared to be completely executed. The Clarendon Club Hotel is now finished, and the proprietor, Mr Peddie, announces that he is in a position to offer superior accommodation, with every convenience and comfort. Mr G. T. Cross has been appointed trustee in the estate of Angus McKay, contractor, a debtor. Mr G. Stevens has retired from business, having sold out to Mr J". Jones, who will continue same, and who solicits of his predecessor. Shearing will commence at Patoka on Wednesday, November 15. Mr G. T. Cross, commission agent, &c, has removed to the premises lately occupied by Messrs Large and Townley. Mr R. Holt wants a good sawyer to take charge of a circular saw bench. The finder of a wheel cap, which has been lost, will be rewarded by returning same to Mr R. Willis, cab-driver. Messrs Blythe and Co. quote reduced prices for children's trimmed holland pinafores to clear. Mr W. E. Woods, pharmaceutical chemist, Napier and Hastings, informs the public that owing to increase in business, he has determined to reduce his|scale of charges. j A number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted" column.
