Melbourne, Ooctober 30. The following horses made their final payments for the Cup to-day 2 — Anglesey Lord Lisgar The Assyrian Lord Burghley Belmont Little Jack Brunette Mistaken Boolka Navigator Calmia Odd Trick Connumulla Pollio The Drummer The Queen Darebin Santa Claus Essex Stockwell Flying Jib Sting First Water Sylvanus Gudarez Sweet William Guesswork Segenhoe Jessie Standard Bearer King of the Vale Savanaka The following horses have been scratched for the Cup since 11 a.m., when the last forfeit wis paid :—Boolka, GueßSwork, and Navigator. It is probable that the following horses will not start for tbe Cup:—Lord Burghley, First Water, Segenhoe, Flying Jib, Essex, Brunette, and The Queen, leaving twenty-two horses in the field. October 31. The weather is fine, but it is blowing hard, and the dust is fearful. There was great excitement throughout the city last night, and it was long after midnight before the betting-rooms were closed. Sweet William was firm at 100 to 35, and was heavily backed. A small amount was invested on Mistaken at 3 to 1. 100 to 20 was offered and 6 to ljwas wanted about Little Jack. 100

to 12 was taken about Cunnumulla. 100 to 10 was offered and 100 to 8 was wanted about Dajebin, who is being backed by the stable. 100 to 3. 100 to 4, and 100 to 5 have been taken about Lord Lisgar to win £10,000. 100 to 2 has been taken for a few thousands about Odd Trick. Pollio, Stockwell, King of the Vale, Savanaka. and Standard Bearer all fiad persons to back them freely at 100 to 2.
