LONDON.
October 26. The British Government has intimated that it is prepared to receive tenders for the supply of Australian frozen meat to the army. The homeward Australian mails via Brindisi, which left Melbourne on the 12th September, were delivered to-day. In both Houses ef Parliament to-day a vote of thanks to the army engaged in Egypt was passed without opposition. In the course of the debate which took place in the House of Commons Mr Gladstone warmly eulogised the conduct of the officers and men of the British and Indian forces during the campaign. The Premier announced that the Government would shortly propose that annuities should be granted to Sir Garnet Wolseley and Sir Beauchamp Seymour for their services.
In the House of Lords to-day Lord Granville, the Foreign Secretary, in reply to a question, declined to make any statement at the present time aa to the intentions of the Government in regard to the final settlement of affairs in Egypt.
