MELBOURNE.
October 26. At the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's wool sale today 1900 bales were offered, of which 1000 were sold. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was brisk, prices being firmly maintained. Two large clips, amounting to 800 bales, were withdrawn, the reserve upon them being too high. The highest price for Merino was 13d, and was obtained for a lot of 67 bales of greasy fleece from the western districts of this colony. For a lot of 54 bales ot scoured merino 23d was obtained. These prices are the highest yet reached during this season's sales. Good cross-breds are in moderate demand, and are firm at about last Bales closing rates.
