PORT AHURIRI

ARRIVALS. October. 23—Maori, s.s., put back from Wairoa. 24—Oreti, s.s., from Gisborno and Auck land.

DEPARTURES. October. 23—Southern Cross, s.s., for Gisborne and Auckland. Passenger—MrsL.Pomarae. 24 —Maori, s.s., for Wairoa and Mobaka. Passengers —Pev. Mr Tonks, Messrs A. Poyzer, Sargisson, Saunders, Davidson, Gray, and one native. 24—Linda Weber, brigantine, for Mercury Bay.

The s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Bernech, left for Gisborne and Auckland at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, after shipping two horses, three buggies, and a quantity of general goods. She is telegraphed as having arrived at Gisborne at 5 o'clock this morning. The steamer Maori, Captain H. Anderson, returned to port last evening, having been unable either to get inside the Wairoa river or land her passengers on the beach. She, however, left again this morning, with a number of passengers, and is to call at Mohaka en route. The brigantine Linda Weber, Captain Bell, sailed for Mercury Bay shortly before 8 o'clock this morning, in ballast, and is to return with another load of timber. The steamer Oreti, Captain Helander, arrived here early this morning from Gisborne and Auckland, and took up her berth at the cattle wharf later on, where she discharged a quantity of cargo during tbe forenoon. Her departure has been delayed •until to-morrow at 11 o'clock, as some cattle she is to take are not yet down from the country. The s.s. Kiwi, Captain Campbell, is to leave Wellington to-night, and may be looked for here at daylight on Thursday morning. She will leave again for Wellington at 5 o'clock the same day. The steamers Sir Donald and Fairy expects to get away for Southern coastal stations to-night.
