ARRIVALS. October. 16—Linda Weber, brigantine, from Whangaroa. DEPARTURES. October. 16—Southern Cross, s.s,, for Gisborne and Auskland. 16—Maori, s.s., for Wairoa, with several passengers. ♦ The s.s. Southern Cross, Capt. Bcrnech, steamed for Poverty Bay and Auckland at about. 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, taking a small quantity of cargo and three horses. She is telegraphed as having arrived at Gisborne at 6 o'clock this morning. Tho brigantine Linda Weber, Captain Bell, arrived at the anchorage yesterday afternoon from Whangaroa, which place she reports having left on Wednesday last, experiencing strong west and south-westerly winds throughout the run. She brings a cargo of sawn and baulk timber for Mr Robert Holt. Qhe steamer Maori, Captain Anderson, lefb for Wairoa at 10 o'clock last night, taking a full cargo and a number of passengers, whose names, however, we were unable to ascertain. The three-masted schooner Silver Cloud, Captain C. Balle, cleared at the Customs this morning in ballast for Newcastle, N.S.W., and will probably get away this afternoon. The s.s, Sir Donald is alongside the barque Langstone to-day transhipping part of her cargo. The p.s. Manaia is expected to leave for Wairoa at 10 o'clock to-morrow night. The departure of the Union Company's lannch Boojum for Wairoa lias been postponed until 12 o'clock to-night. The s.s. Oreti, Captain Helander, is to leave Auckland for this port to-day. Tho cutter Lizzie is loading up with potatoes for Auckland, and expects to sail to-morrow. ["by cable] London, October 14. The Merchant Shipping and Underwriter's Association report the avrival from Lyttelton of the ships Tamerlane (sailed 29th June) and FHriekdale (sailed July 7th).
