Ellis, convicted of indecent assault in July, received his second flogging this morning. It is said to have been very severe. Mr Stevens, secretary of the New Zealand Rifle Association, has received the names of 116 intending competitors at the forthcoming meeting. These do not include many of the names from the principal districts, and it is estimated that fully 300 men will compete.
