COMMERCIAL.
Messrs M. B. Miller and Potts report having held a sale of cattle at the Empire Yards, Waipawa, yesterday, when 147 head were yarded, and although bidding was dull they were mostly disposed of at satisfactory prices, considering the scarcity of feed at tho present time. The following prices were realised : —For yearlings, £2 to £215s ; 2-} ear-old, £3 2s 6d to £4 ; 3-year-old, to £4 15s ; heifers, £2 15s to £3 17s 6d ; cows, £2 10s to £7 ; beef, medium quality, £6 10s to £7. Of horses a few were yarded, but there was no demand.
The local agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile .Agency Company has received from the London office the following produce telegram, under date the 10th instant: —
Wool. —Market unchanged. Wheat.—Market flat. Victorian is worth 475, and New Zealand 43s per 4961b5. Tallow.—Market easier. Mutton 45s 6d, and beef 44s 6d per cwt.
Leather.—Market firm. Rest sides, per lb. New Zealand TTemp.—Market quiet. Fine is worth i.'2B per ton.
