October 9. The homeward mails via Suez and Brindisi, which left Melbourne on the 29th August, were delivered here to-day. October 10. It is understood that the British Government has not yet formulated any proposal for the final settlement of the Egyptian question, but that the Powers are being sounded as to their views pending the final settlement of affairs in Egypt.
