A poll of the ratepayers in the Taradale ! licensing district will bo taken in the district school, Taradale, to-morrow for the purpose of determining whether licenses in said district may or may not be increased. Messrs Monteith and Co. hold their produce sale at the Horse Bazaar tomorrow at 11.30 a.m. ; sell 20 superior draught colts and fillies at 12.30 p.m., and at 1.30 p.m. the usual sale of stock, &c, will take place. The members of the Hawke's Bay Philosophical Institute are informed by the hon. sec, Mr W. Colenso, that an ordinary meeting will be held on Monday evening next in the Napier Athenteum. A Council meeting will take place afterwards. The Rev. E. C. Wilson, M.A., will receive a limited number of gentlemen's sohb at the Parsonage, Palmerston J North, Manawatu, after the Christmas holidays for private education. Applications to purchase trout will be received by Mr W. J. Birch, hon. sec. of the Acclimatisation Society. Mr W. A. Dugleby, architect, invites tendors for taking down, shifting, and re-erec-ting the Free Methodist Church in Shakespeare road. Mr C. Dolbel and Co. have just received a shipment of drain pipes of various sizes. The barque Norman M'Leod is now on the berth loading wool, tallow, and other produce for London. Mr D. Balharry is the local agent. The Weekly Mercury, published this morning, contains, besides the usual features, a full report of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show.
