October 3. A smart shock of earthquake was felt at Titnaru and various parts of the district at 10.45 on Sunday night. The following are the vital statistics for September :—Births, 31; marriages, 5; deaths, 11. The Customs revenue collected in Timaru during September was £2527 15s 2d, as against £1795 4s 5d for the correeponding month last year.
