The Zulu War exhibition opens at Hastings to-night. A sitting of the District Court for the disposal of civil business will be holden at the Court House, Napier, afc 11 a.m. on Monday. Auction sales take place on Monday as follows: —By Messrs Banner and Liddle, at their rooms, afc 2 p.m., oranges, apples, and lemons ; by Mr Ryan, at his mart, at 2 p.m., several valuable town properties, particulars of which will be found elsewhere ; and by Messrs Monteith and Co., at Hastings, cattle, horses, &c, at 11.30 a.m. The time for receiving tenders for the following works expires on Monday at noon : —For filling in town section 191 Napier, at the office of the School Commissioners ; for cleaning out the storm water sewer in Browning street and silt traps, up to December 31st, 1883, afc the Town Clerk's office; for carting 350 yai'ds of river metal and removing about 200 yards of earth for Tamumu Road Board ; and for erecting a church at Port Ahuriri. Mr W. G. Motley, broker, will receive auplications nofc later than this evening for shares in the Mutual Fire and Marine Insurance Company of New Zealand. Messrs M. R. Miller and Potts will hold their annual sale of exhibition stock in connection with the agricultural show on Friday next on the show grounds at Hastings, and a list of stock which will be offered for sale is published. At the races on Tuesday Mr A. McCartney will serve at the grand stand and lawn bars none hut the best brands in wines and spirits. Billy Wilson's ham sandwiches can also be had at both bars. Several important alterations are made in the advertisement of the land sale to be held at Gisborne on November 28 by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Mr T. A. Cottrell has opened and is showing an excellent assortment of clothing, &c, and quotes prices for men's tweed suits. Messrs Monteith and Co. make important additions to the Jist of stock, &c, which they will sell afc Hastings on Friday next. Mr J. Murray has received his first consignment of summer boots and shoes, ordered direct from London and foreign makers. During Mrs Homberg's temporary absence from Napier, Dr Heilbron's worm sates and powders can be obtained from Mrs Nobes, Emerson-street. Fresh oysters, just arrived, will be sold at Yeueli's restaurant to-night. Mr D. Twomey will be afc the Takapau Hotel on Thursday next to settle all accounts due to him. Woods' iron and quinine wine as a remedy in cases of nervous debility, loss of appetite, &c, stands unequalled. A number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted " column.
