The Artillery Volunteers parade in undress uniform in front of the AthenEeum this evening, after which the thirteenth anniversary of the Battery will he celebrated by a dinner at the Caledonian Hotel. The adjourned meeting of those interested in the establishment of an Athensoum at Hastings will be held in the school-room this evening at 8 o'clock. Entries for the horticultural show will be received by Mr Beynolds at Hastings up to this evening and by the hon. sec, Mr E. P. Menzies, at Napier up to 2 p.m. to-morrow. A special general meeting of the Acclimatisation Society will be held at the Criterion Hotel at 11 a.m. to-morrow, to consider alterations in the rules. Messrs Monteith and Co., hold their produce sale at the Horse Bazaar to-morrow at 11.30 a.m., and their stock sale at the same place at 1.30 p.m. The railway time-table for Tuesday and Thursday next is published in another column, by which it will be seen that the two most convenient trains leaving Napier for the Hastings racecourse will be the 11.5 and the 11.25 a.m. In connection with the Friendly Societies Fete, to be held at Hastings on the Prince of Wales' birthday, Mr W.« Miller has been appointed judge, Mr E. Coe starter, and Messrs Mullany and Eoss handicappers. The Napier Bifle Band will be in attendance. A poll of the ratepayers of the Clive licensing district will be taken at the public hall, Clive, on Friday, October 13, to determine whether licenses may or may not be increased. Messrs Francis Higgins and Co., inform the inhabitants of Hastings and surrounding districts that they commence business in Hastings to-morrow as family butchers, and hope to merit public patronage. Lunch can be had at Yeuell's restaurant on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next at 11 a.m., and fresh oysters can always be obtained. Forms of application for shares in the

Meat Export Company can be obtained 1 from Mr M. R. Miller, acting secretary. The share list closes on the 16th October. Messsrs Blythe md Co., are clearing children's white satinette pelisses at 2s 6d each. lodized sarsaparilla, prepared only by W. E.
