ALEXANDRIA.
September 26. In consequence of the opinion expressed by Sir Garnet Wolseley that a force of 10,000 British troops will now be sufficient to ensure the maintenance of order in this country, orders have been issued for the immediate re-embarkation of three battalions of the Indian contingent. The remaining battalions will return to their respective stations shortly. September 27.
Courts-martial have been appointed by the Khedive to hold sittings at Cairo and in this city to try cases which may be submitted by the" special commission of European and native officers appointed to prosecute those who were guilty of outrages against Europeans during the rebellion.
An edict will shortly be issued by the Khedive granting an amnesty to officers below the rank of colonel who fought under Arabi.
