A special thanksgiving service for the British victories in Egypt was held in the Jewish synagogue on Sunday evening. A two-roomed house belonging to Mr John Hore was burnt down at Waimata on Sunday. The inmates iost everything, and had a very narrow escape. The building was not insured.
