September 18. It is understood that Sir Bryan O'Loghlen has telegraphed to the Home Government the congratulations of the Victorian Government upon the termination of the war in Egypt and the recent successes of the British forces. In the Legislative Assembly this evening Sir Bryan O'Loghlen gave notice that he would to-morrow move that a congratulatory address to the Imperial Parliament on the conclasion of the Egyptian war be voted by the Victorian Parliament. At a meeting of the City Council this evening the Mayor moved a similar address to the Home Government, and proposed that a torchlight procession should be organised in honor of the euccess of the British arms.
Mauritius advices to September 5 are to hand. At that date sugar was arriving in the market in greater supply. Business was, however, restricted in consequence of the bigh prices of sugar. Freights to the colonies are 25s per ton.
