OAMARU.

September 15. George Warnes, who was arrested in Melbourne on a charge of fraudulent insolvency, was brought before the R.M. yesterday, and after evidence had been taken the accused was comtpitted to take his trial at the next sittiDgiof the District Court. At the quarteily meeting of the Oamaru Presbytery it was decided, with regard to the question of marriage with a deceased wife's sister, by five votes to four, that the Church should adhere to the doctrine of the Confession of Faitb, which forbids such marriages. One of the Presbytery said that the legalisation of such marriages was only fit for a colony of rabbits.
