The General Synod has finally selected the names of the following clergymen for submission to the Bench of Bishops as candidates for the Bishopric of Sydney and Primacy of Australia, rendered vacant by the death of Bishop Barker : — Rev. Dr. Fleming, (Canon of York), Rev. Richard Appleton, aod Rev. Dr. Barry (Bishop Suffragen of Dover.) Tbe threatened strike of Newcastle colliers has been averted.
