December 24

A heavy earthquake was felt here at 10.46 o'clock last night. The shock was of long duration, the direction being from N. to S., accompanied by a loud rumbling noise.

The Government has received the following telegram from Auckland : — " Tawhiao writes that he is coming to Alexandra to act as judge at the sports and races on Monday next."
