As a pure wholesomo Bottled Ale it may be strongly recommended. WM. JOHNSON, Analytical Chemist to the Government of Victoria. Chemical Laboratory, School of Arts, Sydney. May 13,1880. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to mo, and find that it contains — Alcohol by weight, 540 per cent; or by volume, 6"55 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 017 per cent. I have also examined the Alb for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centage : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in th sample. I remain, yours truly, (Signed) W. A. DIXON. S., F.I.C. A shipment of the above, which has been awarded the First Order of Merit at the ;Melbourne Exhibition, has been received by MESSRS KINROSS & CO. IMPORTANT DISCOVERY! GREAT VICTORY! PROFESSOR JAMES after years of research, in which Nature's Repository was ransacked, at length discovered the Medical properties of Herbs, which were used by our forefathers, when drugs and poisons were unknown, and which now are daily trampled under the foot as useless weeds by those ignorant of their virtues. Attention is pointed to some of the Marvellous Cures which have been effecced by the Professor since his arrival in Auck. land and Napier. PROFESSOR JAMES, American Herbalist, has made the Diseases of Youth and those arising therefrom his special study, his whole professional life has been especially directed to the treatment of Nervous Aflections, and the diseases incidental to Married Life, but his skill is available to all, no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant, his system of corresponding oy letter is now so well organised and known that comment would be superfluous; by this means many thousands of patients have been cured whom he has never seen and_ never known, and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this branch of his profession for twenty yeara in these colonies, no single case of accidental discovery has ever yet happened, when medicines aie required these are forwarded in tho fame careful m uner without a possibility of the contents of the parcel being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, and a curee effected without even the Professor knowing who is his patient. To men and women with broken down constitutions, the nervous, the debilated, and all suffering from any disease whatever. Professor James' plan of treatment commends itself avoiding as it does the inconvenience and expense of a personal visit. TESTIMONIALS. October 10. To Professor Jame3, White-road, Kapler.
