December. 10—Arawata, s.s., for Northern ports. The Union Steamship s.s. Arawata, Captain W. C. Sinclair, arrived in theroadstead from Melbourne viaHobart and Southern ports at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday. She reports leaving Sandridgo railway pier on the 30th ulfc. at 3.30 p.m., and experienced light favorable winds and fine weather for the first thirty-six hours ; afterwards strong south-east winds and rough sea 3 till arrival at the Bluff, on the sth instant at 5 a.m. ; left same day at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, and arrived at Port Chalmers the next morning at 4 o'clock ; left at 4 p.m. the npxfc day, and arrived at Lyttelton on tho Bth instant at 8 a.m. ; sailed for Wellington at 4 o'clock the same afternoon, and arrived at that port at 6.30 a.m. on tbe 9th ; left for Napier at 6.30 p.m. on Friday, arriving here as given above ; experienced fine weather throughout the passage up the coast. The Boojum tendered her immediately on arrival for passengers and mails, and the ketches Maid of the Mill, Admiral, and Three Brothers for cargo, she having an unusually large one for this port. The Boojum took the outward passengers off at 5 o'clock, the Arawata _^_steaming x -ferNorthern ports shortly afterwards.
The s.s. Sir Donald, Capt. Qninlan, returned from Blackhead and Whangaehu yesterday morning, with 114 bales of wool, which she transhipped to the Wave Queen this morning. She sailed at aboufc 10 o'clock for Tongoio to get a load of wool. The brigantine Linda Weber, Capt. George Bell, sailed in ballast at 6 o'clock this morning for Mercury Bay. The 5.3. Maori, Captain H. Anderson, returned from Wairoa at 5 o'clock on Simciay evening, bringing 37 bales of wool and some natives. She leaves again for the same place to-night. The s.s. Fairy returned from Mahia yesterday with 111 dumps of wool, which she transhipped to the Waikato this morning. She is to leave to-night for Te Apiti. The three-masted schooner Frank Guy, Captain J. Balle, is expected to sail for Westport this evening, where she is to load coal for Hobart. The lighters Admiral, Three Brothers, and Maid of the Mill, discharged the Arawata's cargo afc the breastwork to-day.

The Merchant Shipping and Underwriter's Association report; the arrival of the ships Glenariff from Oamaru (sailed September 6), Waimea from Wellington (sailed September 5), and Araby Maid from Auckland (sailed September 15). Melbourne, November 10. Sailed, this afternoon, steamship Alhambra from the Bluff. Arrived, this evening, P. and O. Company's steamship Carthage, with the Suez mails dated London, November 4.
